The one cookie

This site sets a single cookie. It is functional. The site works without it. It forgets your language on every page you open.

fulk_lang

Holds two letters. English or Arabic, and nothing else. It lasts one year. It is sent only to this site, and only over an encrypted connection. It does not travel on requests from other sites.

Set on your first visit, to the language of the page you opened. Set again when you use the language toggle or browse the other language. No query string trails behind every link.

What it does not do

It carries no identifier, no account, no history and nothing about you. Two letters and a name.

Nobody but this site can read it. It chooses which language to serve. Nothing else.

What this site does not set

No analytics cookies. No advertising cookies. No cross-site trackers. No embedded video, no map, no chat widget, no social button reporting home.

That is enforced, not promised. The content security policy this site sends refuses anything from outside it, with one named exception: the Cloudflare Web Analytics script. Code, styles, fonts, images. Any other third-party tag cannot load here. Not even one somebody added by mistake.

Why there is no banner

A consent banner exists to collect permission for cookies that need it. A cookie that remembers a language choice does not need it.

There is a practical side too. A banner asks for permission it does not need. People learn to dismiss the ones that matter. We would rather not be part of that.

The analytics we use

Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts visits without a cookie and without identifying you. There is nothing to consent to. It sees the page, the page you came from, the browser type, the country and how fast the page loaded, and shows us totals.

If we ever add a tool that sets a cookie, this page is updated before it is switched on, and it names the tool. It would sit behind a real choice. Off until you make it.

Refusing it

Your browser can block it or delete it. Nothing here will nag you about that.

The site keeps working. It stops remembering your language. You may arrive in the wrong one and reach for the toggle again. Nothing else changes. There is nothing else.
